The Omega Seamaster is the brands oldest collection that is still in production today. The Seamaster is often thought to be a model of Omega watch, however watch lovers and enthusiasts will know that the Seamaster is actually a collection that encompasses a number of the brands performance models.
The most widely known watch in the range is the Seamaster Diver 300m. Released in 1993, the Diver 300m is an instantly recognisable part of the collection, with its wave dial, scalloped bezel and well-known bracelet style. This is the timepiece that is most associated with the Seamaster name and as the name suggests, it is a divers watch with a water resistance of 300 meters. The range has evolved along with Omegas technological advances. All new models are master chronometer and METAS certified to ensure the utmost precision and magnetic resistance. The Seamaster Diver 300 has appeared in 7 of the 9 James Bond movies since its release, being worn by Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig in their role as the British spy. To solidify the brands connection with the franchise, Omega have produced several special and limited-edition Bond pieces with the release of each new movie.
A continuation of the Seamaster Divers range takes us to the Omega Planet Ocean. The Planet Ocean models are water resistant to 600m and are created for the divers market. All markers on Planet Ocean dials are coated with super-LumiNova which allows the hands and markers to be seen in any light. Unlike with most other watches with glowing markers, there are two colours used to make reading the time easier whilst diving, the hour markers and hour hand will glow blue and the Minute hand and dot on the bezel will glow green so that they can be easily differentiated. The Planet ocean Ultra Deep 6000m is the largest of the range with a case size of 45.5mm. The Ultra Deep is a certified diving watch and is a history maker, having been worn as part of the Five Deeps expedition, the watch reached the deepest place on earth in 2019. The record-breaking watch was then recreated for the general market and is popular with divers and none-divers alike.
In stark contrast to the high-performance models of the Diver 300m and the Planet Ocean, the Seamaster collection is also home to The Aqua Terra, a watch that will withstand wear across water and land. The only watch outside of the heritage collections, to have a water resistance of less than 300m. Although classified as a sports watch, the design lends itself to a sleek watch that can be worn for casual & active wear or dress wear in both ladies and gents models.
The Seamaster heritage collection brings together the brands innovative past and groundbreaking developments that have been made since.
Heritage pieces include The Railmaster, which was groundbreaking when it was released in 1957 with its antimagnetic capability , The Bullhead with its tell-tale case shape, Seamaster 300 a recreation of the original watch created for divers , Seamaster 1948 which pays homage to the very first Seamaster, The PloProf which now includes features such as a ‘shark proof’ mesh bracelet and the Olympic collection which celebrates Omegas timekeeping history.
