OMEGA Planet Ocean
The Planet Ocean was added to the Seamaster collection in 2005, the relative newby carries a strong resemblance to the Seamaster divers watches of the 1950’s & 60’s.
As with most Omega Collections, the Planet Ocean takes its lead from the brands strong ocean heritage. The range consists of The Planet ocean 600m,the largest and main group , The Ultra Deep which is a 6000 m water resistant timepiece and the Deep Black which is the newest addition and has a once piece ceramic case.
All Planet Ocean watches are created as a professional divers watches with functionality in mind but as with all Omega watches, the aesthetics and visual design features also appeal to those with a great appreciation for luxury timepieces.
All Planet Ocean models produced since 2016 are powered by Omegas master co-axial movement .

The Omega Planet Ocean was originally released in 2005 with a chronograph option added a year later and as with all of the Seamaster range, it pays tribute and takes its lead from Omegas nautical heritage and Seamaster models from the 1960’s.
Planet ocean models are created for the divers market, with the functionality to accompany its most adventurous owners on their endeavours but with the style and finish to be worn by those owners that simply appreciate a beautifully engineered timepiece.
The largest and main collection in the range is the Planet Ocean 600m and, as the name suggests is water resistant to 600m, this is the minimum depth for any Planet Ocean watch and is double that of the Seamaster 300.
The Planet Ocean was the first of the brands divers watches to be fitted with its calibre 2500 co-axial movement in 2016 and with this development, it became the world's first divers watch to boast magnetic resistance to 15,000 gauss, 600m water resistance and chronometer certification.
All markers on Planet Ocean dials are coated with Super-LumiNova which allows the hands and markers to be seen in any light. Unlike most other watches with glowing markers, there are two colours used by Omega to make reading the time easier whilst diving, the hour markers and hour hand will glow blue and the Minute hand and dot on the bezel will glow green so that they can be easily differentiated, an extremely important feature on any divers watch.
Shortly following the release of the Planet ocean, the watch made its James Bond debut, being worn by Chester born actor Daniel Craig in his first movie as 007, Casino Royale and featured consistently throughout his Bond Career until his final movie No time to die in 2021. The Omega brand has become synonymous with the 007 franchise. This partnership has resulted in a number of limited edition James Bond & 007 pieces being created.
Limited edition Planet Ocean models have also been created for the 2014, 2018 and the delayed 2020 olympic games.
The Planet Ocean Ultra Deep 6000m, this is the largest piece in the Planet Ocean range with a case size of 45.5mm. The Ultra Deep is a certified diving watch having been extensively tested to ensure that the watch meets all of the required criteria for saturation diving, this watch is not for the faint hearted but still maintains the aesthetic finesse that is expected from the brand. The Ultra Deep is a history maker, having been worn as part of the Five Deeps expedition, the watch reached the deepest place on earth, the Mariana Trench in 2019. The record-breaking watch was then recreated for the general market and is popular with divers and avid watch collectors alike. Current models are powered by the calibre 8912 and have a 60 hour power reserve, retail prices are currently in excess of £10,000.
In 2016 Omega introduced the Deep Black to the Planet Ocean collection, the case formed from one piece of ceramic, with all the features of the 600m there is a handful of models in this range including a chronograph version and GMT functionality.
New Omega Planet ocean watches are available in case sizes from 37.5m-45.5mm, many colour combinations, strap options, materials including ceramic, steel, gold and most recently titanium, diamond and gemstone set versions.
