The Rolex GMT Master II Collection is instantly recognised in the watch world most notably for its many variations of its two-colour bezel. The original ‘tool watch’ has built on its popularity since its origins in the 1950’s with its constant technological evolution.

The GMT Master II has gained a loyal following from watch enthusiasts & collectors who have been responsible for giving models in the GMT collection, witty and catchy nicknames. These nicknames are prompted by the uniquely coloured bezel combinations and are regularly used within the industry to refer to particular models.

Some of the most well known of these nicknames are Pepsi with a Blue & Red Bezel and Coke with its Black & Red bezel, colours resembling those of the famous soft drink brands. Collectors, fans and stockists eagerly await the brand releasing details of their novelties each year and rumour mills are buzzing with theories & anticipation before these new pieces are officially announced by Rolex.

The Rolex GMT Master II 126713GRNR was released in 2023 and is one of the newest additions to the infamous GMT collection. Bringing all the functionality and style that has come to be expected, the ‘Zombie’ comes fitted with an 18ct yellow gold & Steel Jubilee bracelet, black dial and sleek black & grey ceramic bezel.

This new model has also been tagged with a nickname as now seems to have become customary. The ‘Zombie’ as it has become known however, does not seem to have quite as clear a link to its nickname as those aforementioned models. Some simply believe that this is because of its more dark and mysterious tones.

The Zombie has all the features that are expected of the illustrious GMT-Master II timepieces, its 2 colour High Tech ceramic bezel with 24 hours markers to allow ease to keep track of the alternative time zone, Chromalight display (Rolex patented luminescence) to allow easy view in any light.

As with all models, the watch displays ‘GMT Master II’ proudly on its dial above the 6 o’clock marker, however, unlike other models the wording on the zombie is in a soft yellow, almost golden shade to match the Bi-colour case and bracelet.

The Zombie model is powered by the brands highly efficient, in-house Calibre 3285 movement which enables the timepieces hour hand to be set quickly and independently to the minute hand. This allows the wearer to set the second time zone quickly and without having to stop the watch or having to reset the minute hand. The movement offers a 70-hour power reserve and is COSC and Rolex certified Chronometer to guarantee the utmost precision and to allow the timepiece to proudly display the Superlative Chronometer wording.
