The coastal town of Abersoch is situated on the Welsh coast on what is known as the ‘arm of Wales’ (the part of Wales that sticks out into the Irish sea) in the county of Caernarfonshire. It’s location, not far from Snowdonia National Park and just along the coast from Pwllheli and Porthmadog makes it a Popular tourist resort. Traditionally, Abersoch was a fishing port with the majority of the towns income coming from the industry, however Since the 1950’s tourism has become the main source of trade. Home to many bars and restaurants, Abersoch is a very popular spot for holiday makers to watch the world go by. Adventurist Bear Grylls loves the area so much that he bought the private and secluded St Tudwals Island West, just off the coast of Abersoch, to be his family home.

Water sports are extremely popular on this part of the Welsh coast, Surfing, sailing and yachting can all be enjoyed, and you can even rent a private beach hut at the heart of the action. The south Caernarfonshire Yacht club is situated on the headlands at Abersoch, many water sports events that take place here, the likes of which are sponsored by prestigious watch brand Rolex. Keeping watch over the water are the RNLI crew. Abersoch has had a lifeboat station since 1869, In 2009 the head of lifeboat station was handed an MBE by Her Majesty the Queen due to services to his industry.

Known affectionately as ‘Cheshire by the sea’, Abersoch attracts many visitors from wealthy areas of Cheshire looking to enjoy the stunning views and take advantage of some of the fine restaurants, bars and Jewellery and watch shops that the area has to offer. Abersoch has also become a very popular place for some of the areas wealthier residents to enjoy the above-mentioned activities such as yachting, many of whom can be seen wearing prestigious watch brands such Rolex due to the long-held link between the two.
